New Year's Resolutions: Why?

Monday, January 5, 2009

A New Year's Resolution is a promise or commitment that an individual makes in order to improve key areas in their life. This can be anything from working out to learning to cook. Some people choose long term goals, such as the aforementioned, whereas others choose something very specific to achive before the close of the year (i.e. rock climbing). The most popular resolutions include:

  • Lose Weight
  • Gain Weight
  • Get out of Debt
  • Save Money
  • Get a Better Job
  • Get Fit
  • Eat Right
  • Get a Better Education
  • Drink less Alcohol
  • Quit Smoking
  • Reduce Stress
  • Take a Trip
  • Volunteer to Help Others
  • Be Less Grumpy
  • Be more independent
  • Watch less violence
  • Learn something new
Then there are those who choose very blanket statements, such as to make the new year better than the last, as their New Year's resolution. However there is a very fine line between making a New Year's resolution and lying to one's self.

BELOW IS THE CONVERSATION THAT TRANSPIRED BETWEEN MYSELF, AN HONORARY U.N., AND WALL STREET LADY RE: NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS. TAKE WHAT YOU WISH FROM IT.

We act like we want change yet we wake up everyday and it’s the same ish change starts within. It’s a New Year time for fake resolutions and broken promises. LMAO at everybody who know they been lying to themselves year after year

Uppity Diva (3:28 PM):

Uppity Negro (3:28 PM):

Uppity Diva (3:29 PM):
Ur status. I say it and every1 calls me a sourpuss like it aint true!

Uppity Negro (3:29 PM):
Word up
Its cuz the truth hurts

Uppity Diva (3:30 PM):
Every year I see the same line … "this year is mine". Really tho?!

Uppity Diva (3:31 PM):
I haven't made a resolution since like maybe '01, '02. And it was to stop making resolutions!

Uppity Negro (3:31 PM):
Lol
This yr ima >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> stop wasting time trying to keep resolutions and just do me
Lol

Uppity Diva (3:33 PM):
Ppl are damn ridiculous

Uppity Negro (3:33 PM):
Yep sir
I think I offended a few

Uppity Negro (3:34 PM):
But oh well they need to look at the last few yrs of they lives and c they wasted time making fake resol.

Uppity Diva (3:35 PM):
No that's too easy so instead they'll continue to lie to themselves; that way they can always pacify their failure with "I tried" or "there's always next year"

Uppity Negro (3:36 PM):
Lol true

Uppity Diva (3:37 PM):
A guilty conscience needs no accuser so if their offended its cuz it’s them. According to good morn amer, 75% of ppl break their "resolutions" w/in the first 3mths of the year

Uppity Negro (3:37 PM):
Really I thought the num would b higher

Uppity Diva (3:38 PM):
So did I lol

Uppity Diva (3:39 PM):
U know I had some1 tell me their resolution is to keep resolutions
What do u say to such nonsense?

Uppity Negro (4:15 PM):
U say oh ok

Wall Street Lady (4:29 PM):
People make nut a** resolutions all the time, and break them anyway. For example, if you want to lose weight, why are you going to wait 3 months until January to then start exercising? Get your fat cake self off the couch NOW and exercise! In 3 months, the fat will probably clog your heart and you'll stop breathing. I bet then you'll wish you hadn't wasted time on a damn resolution, smdh at the sheep. Every year is "this year, I'm going to get my life together" or "it's my time to shine" or "this is my year to get it". STOP IT!!!!! If we were all "getting it", then we wouldn't have time to waste thinking of damn resolutions because we'd have money to count! And if you have to wait until January to get your time to shine, how about you just don't quit your day job and get over it? Cuz the time AIN'T COMIN'!!!!

Uppity Diva (4:50 PM)
People slay with their "New Year new me" tirades. Its tiresome and a major nuisance.

Wall Street Lady (4:58 PM)
Honestly people basically resolve to do the same thing again next year they've BEEN doing. The only resolution they stay true to is the one for making ANOTHER nut a** resolution for next year.
