What is an Uppity Negro?

An Uppity Negro is one who does not align themselves with the nuances of a typical negro; they are not bourgeoisie in the contemporary sense, but in the archaic definition of the word. An Uppity Negro seeks for other Negroes to act better.

An Uppity Negro is often seen as a "sell-out" because they will not conform to the "hood" traditions of their counterparts. The U.N. engages in behaviors that are often attributed to the Caucasian race - speaking proper English, wearing tailored clothing, attending cultured events, being well-educated, etc. - versus those that are reserved for "real niggas". Although the U.N. is not susceptible to the ways of many self-degrading Negroes, they are capable of being "down" - however they have no need to be validated by their peers; only to educate & elevate them.
